Roofless

Weekly Photo Challenge: Atop

I’m not very fond of this perspective, being above the subject while shooting, unless it serves my idea for the photograph such as the following photo for instance.

I wanted the photo messy and with layers of subjects so shooting from above serves that idea. If I had captured it from eye-level, it would have been a little bit flat. For someone else, it might have been a better photo. It just wasn’t what I was looking for.

This shot was taken from a window of a house in the second floor (right on top of the house in the photo). The house in the ground-floor has a sort of a hall/open space that’s roofless which is how most of Tunisia’s traditional old houses are. I lived in one for quite a while and it gets troublesome in rainy winters!
