My nephew has this game where there are 6 clown picture and each picture is broken into 8 pieces with different sizes. After rolling a 6-sided die (1 being the shortest size, 6 the tallest) in their respective turns, players take a piece of the picture with the same number they got some the die. After 8 turns (8 pieces) whoever got the tallest clown wins.
It’s a child’s game but my nephew made the whole family play with him!
When I saw the daily prompt, I immediatly remembered the game. Whether you win or lose, measure is what decides it. I also remembered that I took some photos while I played with him. I was way too lucky with the die rolls! I wanted to let him win but I kept getting fives and sixes! H didn’t nag or cry but I could feel his frustration, poor kid!
Weekly Photo Challenge: Morning
Today six years ago, I took these pictures in the beach at around 7am.
I still don’t know whose dog is that! That morning I also took this picture.
As soon as I read the word “craving” in the Daily Post’s daily prompt, I heard my girlfriend’s voice in my head, a whole bunch of them over each other: “I’m craving for chocolate! I’m craving for snacks! I’m craving for burger! I’m craving for marshmallows! I’m craving for etc…!”
She says that almost every day that I kinda started anticipating that utterance just from her facial expression! It’s actually adorable though. Most of the time, I can’t help but offer her or let her have snacks (which is not good for her health). Sometimes, I iron my heart and stop her from having snacks. Her expression gets even more adorable! (which I like!)
One of the things I enjoy in our relationship is food talk (and having a good meal together obviously). Why do I enjoy a conversation about food with my girlfriend? Well, I just love the cute expressions she makes when she talks about food. :3
Although the reason why women crave sugary and fatty snacks might be attributed to the menstrual cycle and its entailing deficiencies of certain minerals in the body, my girlfriend just genuinely loves food, plain and simple!
Daily Prompt: Feast, huh.
Naturally, when hearing the word ‘feast’ I immediately think about food. I love food. but unfortunately right now I’m feasting on different kinds of sustenance:
Photography books/magazines and Anime.
I’m trying to learn more about photography. I believe that practicing and learning from one’s own experiences is the way to do it. But not without getting down the basics and you can only do that by studying. That’s why I’m reading photography books and magazines. I started with Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson and Langford’s Starting Photography by Michael Langford & Philip Andrews.
I also quench my thirst for anime. I usually focus on a genre for a period of time. These days I’m watching sports anime specifically, Over Drive and Giant Killing. I’m planning to watch Hungry Heart: Wild Striker and Majors afterwards.
This post is not going to end without pictures! Here’s another batch of recycled picture mesh. Not as good as the first ones. I have no idea what kind of pictures I’ll end up with when I start Photoshop. I just keep changing things and experimenting until I think it’s enough. I wanted to work and add more on these but I got tired. >_<
I haven’t posted pictures in a while. I haven’t taken pictures worth sharing anyways. I got a new camera though. I’ll be taking it out to a test on the mountain road later. I’ll most likely be shooting the same landscapes I shared in my first Daily Picks posts but for me they’ll be different because I’ll be in control this time.
My first camera is mostly automatic; I couldn’t do much using it. With this new piece that features a Manual Exposure mode, I can finally get down the basics and try different things.
I’m grateful to my amazing Panasonic DMC-FZ1 even if it lacks manual controls. Actually, BECAUSE it is automatic that I was able to learn to see and notice potential subjects that others may miss and also frame well. Holding a point and shoot camera isn’t bad; your mind won’t be occupied by figuring out the right exposure and stuff. Alternatively, you’ll be studying your surroundings looking for an interesting subject and trying to frame it nicely to compensate for the other work done by the camera for you. in that respect, I think my time with it wasn’t wasted at all.
Now that I’m good enough at framing and composing, the new camera came to me in time so I can truly take a photograph and say I worked for it. I don’t know if that makes sense but I’m kinda too happy now that I’m saying stuff like that! :p
It’s not even new, as in recently released or something. It’s a Sony cyber-shot DSC H7 (2007 i think). I’m totally fine with it. If I got one of the newest models, I wouldn’t know what to do with it. So this is fine.
I still haven’t shot a picture that I’m satisfied with using manual settings yet (still learning >_< ) but here’s a few practice picks.
Minaret at dusk 2.
Minaret at dusk
One of the mosque’s doors. I took this in a hurry. I definitely could have framed it better. I’ll try it again one of these days.
this was supposed to be horizontal. i don’t know why it’s uploaded vertical! >_<
I hope you liked the pictures. I’m at the starting line here so I appreciate tips and advice; please feel free to drop a comment and don’t hold back. ^_^
Earlier I posted a variety of pictures which I took over the years. This post is for pictures I took today.
Let’s start with a flower which I think it’s a type of zinnia (not sure). It was in a vase with other flowers. (never crossed my mind to take a picture of the whole thing).
Now guys, meet Mr. Philips!
Believe me, I’m not into plushies or teddy bears! even as a kid, I never was! This one has a story though. It’s named Philips after my loudspeakers’ brand! You know, the electronics company, Philips!
The final pick of today is in fact my dinner. I fried some eggs with onion and heated lunch’s spaghetti. I’m not sure if the picture does it justice but it certainly was delicious!
I’m currently enjoying my coffee – very slowly, as usual, which brought to my mind the idea of this post!
See, my girlfriend and I are coffee people but we’re different in how we drink it! She actually has no problem finishing it in 2 or 3 gulps. Me on the other hand, it’s very important that I drink my coffee very slowly!
Not only my girlfriend, but I don’t think I’ve ever met someone who doesn’t finish his coffee in 5 or 10 mins! >_<
You’re probably wondering why talk about this at all. I see coffee as something more than mere coffee. This surprised even myself but one day I realized that I drink coffee for peace of mind, stability and even for reflection. Once I have a coffee on my side, it’s like time stops and my life is cleared of all the bitterness. (which is ironic because coffee is bitter but perhaps, it is not. maybe it becomes bitter after absorbing my life’s bitterness.)
I guess I want that coffee time to extend as long as possible and that’s probably why I take my sweet time drinking bitter coffee!
I also started enjoying it even more when my girlfriend drinks with me. It has became a sort of a separate world for us. ❤
Anyways, this was just a quick thought as I finished my coffee slowly! To end this post, here’s a haiku for ya! 😀
