Picks from July 11th 2017

I was on my way to the beach around 5am and I took these photos. I kept their white balance as is because I like them that way except for the last two which I tweaked a bit.

I also shot a Tri-X400 roll at the same time but it’s not developed yet. It was just a test. I’m not sure that that film is suitable for sunrise photos. I tried to avoid direct light so I hope I’ll get a few good ones.

Purification

States of Mind: Purification

mm4 (2)

When the baggage in my head becomes unbearably heavy I take a lonely walk and pretend it’s a dream where nothing else exists except me and raging Mesteerean winds and waters.

Mesteerean Sunrise

I woke up real early this morning and I couldn’t go back to sleep. I usually hate it when that happens but today it was an opportunity. I’ve been wanting to get some sunrise photos for a while but I always ended up oversleeping. (I sleep very late. It’s been around 3 or 4 years since the last time I went to bed before midnight!) Anyways, I got this photo and a few more which I will post later.

The time window was really short. I used it all up in pretty much one location. Next time, I’ll plan it right and get a variety of locations.

Mesteerean Solitude

This is my second WPC Solitude Post. For my first post click here

Solitude is a very rare state of mind. I only find it in very few places and in doing very small and simple things.

Actually, there is only one place, Mesteer (the place this blog is named after). The moment I am there, I am plucked away from everything else.

I won’t be meditating or anything like that. Sometimes I keep doing what I’ve been doing but my mind is just so clear and light that all the same things feel different, better.

Although, there is one thing I can only do there which is to stand as close as I can to the sea and watch its waves live and die endlessly. I also listen to music while I watch (sometimes even heavy metal)!

It’s not about calmness and relaxation, it’s about what I perceive in my mind, in that moment and in that place. everything else is irrelevent. That’s my solitude.

I also enjoy reading books there a lot more than anywhere else.

Picks From Feb. 1st 2017 Part 1: Textures

I took a walk in town with my camera two days ago, took a lot of shots. I spent yesterday processing most of them and now I’m ready to post them.

For this first collection, I picked all the photos that include any kind of texture in them.

I enjoy taking pictures of tree trunks. I love that no matter how many times I take pictures of the same tree, the texture almost always looks different within the frame.

These photos show one side of the same tree trunk. you can already see that; they’re not that different; but they are different in the way the texture conjures images in my head. I find that very interesting and enjoyable.

So I hope you liked the high-contrast textures. I’m not very into it but I never shy away from any subject that has photographic potential.

Next part will be Green & Blue.

Lea is Her Name

“Lea” is my girlfriend’s name. And I’ve always loved it.

I love how it sounds. I love how it looks. I love what it means. I love everything about it and I love Lea.

Also, whenever I could, I reference this lovely name with its connotations in my writings. here’s an example.

But this post is part of the Weekly Photography Challenge: Names so there must be less words and more photos!

I was playing around with long-exposure a while ago and I took this picture. The approach is: the best way is the simplest. I couldn’t have portrayed her name better if I thought about a complex photograph so here it is laid bare in its luminous beauty in the darkness.

I did do this years ago though. It was rushed work but I still like it.

Look forward to a different take on WPC Names post. 🙂
